NEAT June 1998 Interesting Objects
1994 CK1 = 1998 MY5 = CY27IH was discovered with NEAT on 24 June 1998 traveling 1
degree/day, with V = 17.2, and recovered with NEAT on 25 June 1998. It is an Apollo Earth-crossing asteroid 1-2 km (1 mile) in diameter. Its a,e,i,q = 1.87, 0.63, 5 , 0.6997 (G. Williams,
SAO). This object was later identified with a previously discovered NEA.
NEAT serendipitously observed Comet 21P on 25 June 1998.
NEAT followed up 1998 MZ = SS0560, discovered with Spacewatch. This is an Apollo Earth-Crossing Potentially Hazardous Asteroid, although not a danger to the Earth at present. It is
330-740 meters in diameter.
