NEAT March 1998 Interesting Objects


1998FS11 =C0N5MJ is a high-eccentricity, 260-590 m asteroid discovered with NEAT on 3/23/98 and recovered with NEAT the next day. Its perihelion of 1.34 astronomical units means its just outside the limit for a NEA. Its a,e,i,q = 2.29, 0.41, 4 ,1.3457 (G. Williams, SAO).

1998FM5 = C0JGAH is an Earth-crossing Amor discovered and recovered with NEAT on 3/23/98. It's a large asteroid, between 2-4 km (1-2 miles) but NOT a danger to the Earth. Its a,e,i = 2.24, 0.55, 11, 1.0081 (G. Williams, SAO).
